  • Alice Coltrane. always thought it was religious harp (i don't like either things) music, so never really got to checking the albums properly. oops. Journey... and Ptah... are amazing. still not into the others yet, as there seems to be no Jo…
  • Funcrusher Plus was definitely, massively overrated when it dropped, but subsequently hatted on because of it. now it's probably at it's level. I still like it, think it's held up well and spin it once a year or so. 'Silence' is an absolute belter
  • Not sure, but I think there is someone else here from Edinburgh. SP1200? I've definitely seen it mentioned quite recently Don't think we know each other, I've only been back here properly since last year. Had many years in Malaysia (Kampung A…

  • oh, god yes on Mos Def. and Talib Kweli. that whole Black Star (and Black on Both Sides) record was hailed as some second coming. the thing is absolute rubbish, and everything they've put out since those first 12"s. in the UK at the time you could h…
  • yes, surprised this is top 10, but a great record and very tough find. happy with my reish

  • thanks LaserWolf! not strictly all from august, but after an 8 year digging hiatus, it's good to fall back into the habit. 2 or 3 are from discogs/ebay, thanks to a meagre pay rise, and a few things on the Catalyst label, which i've been into…
  • ha, i thought Ren was the dopest too, on first listen. didn't really hear this until about 91 or 92 when we were going up to secondary school (11-12 years old related) and it was easily the most heavily dubbed tape i ever experienced throughout scho…
  • i'm embarrassed to ask, but how do you post pictures? this is gonna be my first contribution to a finds thread, purely because i'm not into technology, phones and such. sorry for probably the dumbest question ever asked on soulstrut
  • loathe stickers in all forms of existence, always remove. unless i was immediately going to sell a record, i would probably not even buy it if it had a large, difficult to remove sticker on the actual cover. those damn columbia/cbs radio stickers...
  • great topic and so many good choices. i regularly pull the jazz face on my daily train commute to work, quite a lot like Billy Wooten on the 'Wooden Glass Live' record ok, i see my computer literacy has failed me again. i was trying to post E…

  • :oh_snap: Horseleech hipped me to Chivo Borraro a few weeks ago - he has a great album from '66, 'El Nuevo Sonido del Chivo Borraro' I will be all over these other recommendations too
  • fake picture. anatomically that can not be the biz's arm
  • chivo borraro is lovely, i hadn't seen that in the discography! gaz, how is the henry franklin lp in your avatar? i've heard a couple from it...
  • I usually find Mainstream quite disappointing. I have a handful of good ones (Hadley Caliman's are a personal fave), but you'd think some of the guys on the label (Harold Land, Roy Haynes) would deliver better stuff than they did.
