do you guys remember when the board was down for a week and bambouche started a soulstrut e-mail list? i'd wake up check my email and there would be like 150 unread messages. then when the board was working he compiled the discussions into one thread. i wish i had that bookmarked.

[vanity]I also do think that "People... Hold On" and the "Interstellar Jumpoff"/"2001 Space Odessey Jumpoff" were defining moments to me, at least.[/vanity]

    That was the apex.

And I also remember how most poeple wanted OFF that list once the board was back up!

prob when edan called SoI "mousey"

aren't they both from Boston, was this a personal beef?

i only learned about it a couple months ago when someone linked the thread. it was a thread about running into "celebrity diggers" (i think), and Soul mentioned seeing edan in his spot and saying whats up to edan only to get snubbed, or some attitude from E. Edan showed up in the thread calling Soul mousey and how SOI lit a cig and rode off on his motorcycle. it was kinda funny.

    Sigh.

This one's just not going away, huh?

I should just copy-n-paste my stock response to this, but
when I wrote my non-erotique diggeur fiction about the
encounter with Edan, it was meant to be sarcastic, as I thought
the name-dropping/"The Game walked by me at the movies" in that
thread was getting ridiculous ... and when he saw the post, he certainly
had to be lacking that context. If you read the thread, I did reply to
him and explain this ... and suck up to him a little bit ... also,
I laughed as much as anyone else at his response, it was funny.

For the record - yes, we both live in Boston, no, we don't have
beef and in fact I see him constantly around town and we usually
say what's up and talk records or whatever, although neither of
us has ever brought up the "mousey" incident in person.

He's actually moving out of Boston, which is too bad, cause
he's one of the few people I like running into around town.
Dude is mad cool and very down-to-earth. See you all in 2
months when somebody brings this up AGAIN.

Not historical, but definitely one that had me laughing my ass off was "post pics of what you THINK Stutters look like". It didn't get too mean, but some were highly suspect (of course) and some were so on point.
    Can we remount?

He actually already moved at the beginning of the month to Brooklyn. And yes, he really is a very nice guy.

Or the Unfortunate Shit Stories thread...though I suppose that one could be considered a new low as well as a greatest hit, depending on how you feel about shit humor.

    JP/Yuichi beef.

Some of the all-time quotables like:

    "I WILL WORK YOU SON"

"While you were doing suicide drills, I was making beats!"

"I have a glass of wine in my hand AND i'm talking to a girl on the phone."

"I have a glass of wine in my hand AND i'm talking to a girl on the phone."

    ^^^^^^That's the Cliff's Notes

If I recall correctly, the actual post gave us insight into Paycheck's predilections with respect to fine wines, imported cigars, leisure footwear, ottomans, television programming, personal communication devices, women, cuisine and, of course, records.

Those who have been following my work know that when I hold forth on the subjects noted above, attention must be paid.

For instance, recall the time you almost bought the wrong kind of ottoman, having not considered that your living room was oblong... A minute's worth of discussion at Bumpshop one night? Free. A feng shui disaster averted? Priceless.

I did not mean to suggest that I thought reference to even one of those subjects was gratuitous.

Comedy. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with that either.

    -Let a Heatrock loose .

    what was this?

For Katrina, we all decided that we would all sell some of the most valuable records in all of our collections, like SERIOUS pieces like Stark Reality and East Of Underground. We all had a little bidding war up on here, and in the end all the money that was raised was donated to a charity (or charities.) Deep Stank had his company match the donations and I think we all in all raised over 100 grand. It was Bambouche who facilitated it.

Definitely Soulstrut's finest hour, without question. Nothing else comes close.

    MUST TO CO-SIGN THIS.

Bambouche & Asprin facilitated and kicked it off.
I think Sween's family charity also matched funds or chipped in.
3 of the finest people to ever post here.

The operating principle of Heatrock was if it didn't hurt, you weren't giving.
You had to put up a record for sale that hurt to part with.
Bid an amount that hurt to pay.

If Raj has heatrock pages or threads archived they would be cool to see again.
