I didn't like his Loop LP on Tuba (I didn't like the organ sound on it and most tracs were dull), but people keep spending a lot of money on the New And Groovy LP on Tuba. What is it that I'm missing? Great record?

  • It's real big in the Japanes and European soul jazz scenes plus it's not the easiest record to catch. A lot of older dudes (meaning 40+ years old) ask me for that record who are more into a swinging/groovy jazz sound than more straight up funk.

Personally, I'm about 50-50 on it. I think if it didn't demand such a high price, say it was only a $20 record, I'd be a lot happier. When it does hit those flat moments my attention seems to drift to what records I could buy with the money I get for it.

For my money though it's all about his Milestone releases anyways.
