At least if he had said "should get off the Golf Course" it would have been hard to dispute.

Please to enlighten us as to how much time Obama spends on the golf course.

I'm betting that if you're really interested it's easily found via Google.

I'm really more interested in whether you know or not.

I'll take your defensive reaction to mean that you don't. Thanks.

Of course you are.....for very transparent reasons

I know that he plays golf more often than basketball and that golf doesn't incite the racial stereotype that basketball does.

Obama plays Golf about once a week.

    Happy?

do you think golfing once a week is too much for a president ?

He has a basketball court at the White House, so I don't know how you can say this definitively.

  • Again, how is it that anyone is treating Donald Trump as having any serious contribution to make here. It's just been proven that he's a racist conspiracy theorist and yet here he is, all over the news as though he has something of note to say.

    I am not satisfied.
If he is really a citizen he can prove it by releasing his Social Security card.
    His driver license.
    His passport.
    And his credit cards.
    Please no black outs.

  • LaserWolfLaserWolf Portland Oregon 11,517 Posts
And where are his baptismal records?

On a marginally more serious note.

People talk about Trump leading the polls, or dismiss others like Pawlenty for being unknown.

There will be 2 important things that will determine who gets the gop nomination.

The candidates organization in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and other early primary states. (if they have changed the order of states I apologize.)

How much money the candidate has raised.

National name recognition and early polls are unimportant.

Oh, so are you suggesting that Trump's basketball reference might have been more factual than racist?

    b/w

I have never met a mirror that has won an argument.

You're saying this because it's pure comedy.

And if anyone says it seriously it's also pure comedy from where I sit.

Trump doesn't care about the factual basis for his statements. The basketball comment is a racist dog whistle just like the college crap and the birther crap. He should just drape a giant white hood over Trump Tower because he's now the Grand Wizard of the GOP.

It's ridiculous that the long-form certificate was even released. Next will come calls for his SAT scores and transcripts. The far-right will be grappling at these straws forever, unable to accept that a qualified Black man is legitimately qualified to be president. Tired of this circus.

I think it's a given that this will move on to a push for Obama to release his school records.

The whole episode is beyond painfully embarrassing for this country. I heard lots of great commentary last night about the obvious racial aspect of all of this circus. I hope that many honkies will begin to understand how this reflects the obvious power differences between the races and sense of (white) entitlement so endemic to our country.

The transcripts questions are truly obnoxious since they obviously have no bearing on his qualifications to run for president. Once admitted, he very clearly succeeded academically (Head of Harvard Law Review) beyond what most mortals would ever dare to dream.

Something else that has never been provided by any candidate or president - ever.

But the wingnuts aren't racists. They're just... curious. That's all.

    And:

"The Chinese are raping this country." - Candidate Trump.

I think my favorite birther reactions have been the Terry Lakin supporters. Blaming obama that dude is locked up, and then demanding a presidential pardon, WOW that takes some huge balls and tiny brains.

Obama supporters can at least find solace in the fact that the GOP party has damaged its own image to a point from which it cannot be repaired fully by 2012. I'm ready for a GOP candidate I can take seriously, as the emergence of one might signal at least a simmering down of this fu*kery.

    Nah, just tiny brains.

Lakin's due to be released in a couple of weeks. The prick got off easy.

I have not paid close attention to the post bc release in the media.

The little I have seen leads me to believe this is a calculated political move on the part of the WH.

They have made Trump the most powerful man in the gop. For as long as Trump is the face of the gop no one* will take the gop seriously.

*Except the 30% who support Trump.

I know this will sound ridiculous, but what if Trump is a Democrat plant to destroy the credibility of the Republican Party? I remember reading articles like this:

    http://www.ny1.com/content/top_stories/88778/-i-ny1-exclusive---i--donald-trump-slams--evil--bush--praises-obama/

And wonder how Trump makes the leap from thumbs up and skittles to secret foreigner socialist muslim nazi terrorist birther?
-His reputation is awful, no damage there
    -He's a media draw
-He's willing to say outrageous shit at all times
-He has money and resources he can use to go around making the Repub Party look bad at will
    -Modern day PT Barnum
    Just a passing thought.

But let's imagine for a minute your theory is correct and he's a plant to make the Republicans look bad.

Anyone here have a problem with that?

If it became a widespread political ploy the creativity that would ensue could boggle the mind.

  • I'm starting to think Trump is taking pages from the Charlie Sheen playbook
(i.e. capitalizing on a "I'm crazy because I don't play by society's rules and you love me for it!" pose)

Anyone hear the audio of this speech he gave in Vegas?
Dude dropped mad F-bombs and even went so far as to call China "Motherfuckers"!

    :nagl:

(P.S. Is there a way to make one of these NAGL graemlins with The Donald's face on it?
    That would be awesome)

I doubt Trump even wants to run.

As soon as he realizes that being president doesn't mean you're the king he'll lose interest. Right now he's just enjoying the attention.

The time for statesmen in the GOP has long past. I think there was a time when Republican politicians might have genuinely cared about bettering the country, but if it really is "the economy, stupid" well then everything changed after the supply-siders came along and married the Party's brain matter to a newly globalizing business world. The first generation (post-Ford thru 80s) maybe (maybe ) believed in their radical new theory holding water, but you have to assume by the time the second wave rode to Washington (90s) they knew they were peddling complete junk, but then again people [felt like they] were doing just fine back then so who really cared? Right wingers in the aughts should be thought of as nothing more than willing saboteurs continuing to push economic voodooism.
And now, three+ decades later, our major problem is a crop of populist -some geniune, some not so much - conservative lawmakers and personalities who came of age under the promises of Reaganomics and its three decades of ensuing propaganda (don't blame the rich, become the rich), and thus are incapable of uncoupling fact from economic fiction.
