Pretty good list Harv. Doomsday was '99 tho, and although I'm a huge Doomsday fan (madvillain too), I never really got into Mmm Food. Am i sleeping?

I'd add the first two Kanye albums, Purple Haze, The Realness and the Big L album to my list. Some might say LOX's We Are The Streets had enough big songs to be called a "good album", but I'm not so sure. Those are my biased NY picks anyway..

And what, no Can-Ox love people??

i prefered vordul mega over vast aire, but he's really overshadowed by his counterpart on a majority of the album in terms of time on the mic. Overall the album wasnt an end to end burner for me like operation doomsday is.

straight off the d.i.c. has one my favorite choruses based solely upon how the words sound, ignoring any kind of interpretation/meaning behind the lyrics.

i guess if someone asked me if i liked can ox i would say yeah but that answer is incomplete really.

i'd toss up viktor vaughn vaudeville villain. that has some of my favorite lines from doom, plus his flow on that album reminds me more of operation doomsday than his later efforts. not my favorite production work, but the beats are above average and seem to work well to compliment the frenetic reference factory that is his lyrical style.

I remember liking one of the songs off the initial Cann Ox single...but I never got into the album.

    Indeed, I did.

I can't seem to locate that thread, so I am reposting. I know it constitutes some prohibitively heavy mental lifting, but you little dudes will just have to subtract the southern records yourselves.

    On August 13, Oliver wrote:

I'd be curious to see what the Soulstrut Top 50 would look like.

And by "curious" I mean "scared."

Well get scared, you poptarts. And by ???get scared??? I mean, prepare to recognize that my list is truth seared into stone by lightning.

In the interest of manageability I have limited the list to official releases, excluding mixtapes and unreleased albums, and in the interest of diversity I have limited each artist represented to one album. And, while it should be obvious, the list is alphabetized by artist, not ranked in order of quality or importance.

    Squalor back.

The list was unranked, although the usual SoulStrut illiterates failed to process that fact.

In any event, D4L made a great rap album. Snickering at it is just flossing your own ignorance.

for real? so are you suggesting i should go get a copy and give it a listen?

in other words, are these recommendations in any kind of fashion?

im asking because i did, and would, not bother to give it even 10 seconds of my time.
