Was feeling kind of blue this morning. Put on John Martyn - StormBringer. Followed by Arthur Russell - World of Echo. Last night it was Barbara Mason on Arctic and Ike Quebec.I need some new music to get through those sorts of days. Suggestions? Can be jazz, folk, soul, total outsider/loner shit. anything.

Bach's suites for solo cello - words cannot even explain, though folks have tried.

    Express Rising (D Carfegna)

I listened to this driving a rental car after a red-eye to Yurp... started to fall asleep on the A1. Not cool. It's stoner moody loops rather than black dog steez.

    Man..

been playing On the Beach to death.

Have played Nick Drake and Astral Weeks to death.

Tim Buckley sounds happy at this point.

Loren Mazzacane Connors' guitar strings are falling off.

I interviewed Cat Power after her first LP came out on that Italian label on a street corner in Ypsilanti, MI- right in front of the Deja vu strip club. She was so sweet and nervous and drunk. She could not play guitar for the life of her.

But the suggestions are much appreciated.

I was working with a woman and together we put on shows so her band would have decent people to play with. Ms.Power was one of the nicest we dealt with. I'm not a fan of her music at all, so I didn't watch the show and worked the door, but folks I spoke to after were floored at how incapable she was at live perfomance. One person said they thought she was going to start crying at one point.

This reminds me of "Wine-Stained Lips" a song by her one-time boyfriend's band Smog that is melancholy and romantic. Not a fan of theirs either, but this song is quite nice.
