b, 21Anyone catch this? a href="http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2008/11/lebrons-chalk-c.html" target="_blank"1http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2008/11/lebrons-chalk-c.htmlb, 21b, 21Very dope Wieden+Kennedy output, with Mark Romanek directing. Also, wasn't familiar with this group Cornershop, very Meters-sounding...I dig. Anyone up on Cornershop and can tell me more?

Ha, surprised they used a Cornershop song. I was bumping that stuff back in high school. I'm sure you heard that Brimful of Asha song...it's from that album produced by Dan the Automator, so it's got a lot of boom bap in it. b, 21b, 21img src="http://www.jezebelmusic.com/wp-content/uploads/image/Cornershop_WhenIWasBornForThe7thTime.jpg"1

Compared to the Lebron and Nicole Scherzinger commercial, this is quite pedestrian.

Both that commercial and Cornershop are ill.

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21The group was really big about 10 years ago, when "Brimful of Asha" came out but they've been around since the early '90s. Haven't heard much from them in a minute - I think their last album came out in 2001 or 2002. b, 21b, 21I don't ordinarily think of their music as being very Meters-ish, just that one song they used for the commercial.

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21Two things:b, 21b, 211) Cornershop's song "Good Shit" was on a Cliff's Notes Back-To-School mix CD in the mid-to-late 90s. Although the track was not edited, it i1was[/i] retitled "Good Ship."b, 21b, 212) LeBron stole that shit from MJ. Hardcore rip-off.

I've heard that sample before on one of my blues records, I just can't place it right now... some muddy waters or howlin wolf maybe?? Either that or Taj Mahal...b, 21b, 21I love this comment underneath the spot: i1"To anyone that thinks this commercial is awesome, I'd like to show up inside your house and throw a bunch of chalk in the air."[/i]b, 21b, 21well edited and the b&w makes it look cool , but it doesn't blow my mind or anything

  • Another dope part of the ad is the appearance of young phenom Jaime Nared, who is already making a splash at 13: a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/sports/playmagazine/0914play-NARED.html" target="_blank"1http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/sports/playmagazine/0914play-NARED.html/a1
