So is there's Oud playing on the record? Is it Middle Eastern sounding? I'm all about the Eastern tinged terds.

i dont think so. when i asked about the cover, all steve said was that bill and errol wanted to do some funky shit for the cover. funky isnt quite the word i would use.

Quebec LP that I still love:

Much cheaper than it used to be, too.

Dwayne is crazy. Which is part of why his album is so good. But yes, I did have a run-in. He was cool when I bought stock of the LP from him. Then sometime after he had a spaz-out at me and wanted to urinate all over my face and laugh at me.

    Noice!

pay close attn to the 'game' strategies being dropped in this vintage gem:

I am always trying to find the original artists. Since I have a radio show and am a Music Director at the College radio I find that If I contact musicians and tell them my interest they usually have no problem sending me an LP to play on my show. This has worked really well for me in the past when trying to track down the obscure. It works out both ways because they are stoked to hear from a fan who will play their music on the radio and I am stoked to get a new LP that can go right in my top shelf.

Speaking of Detroit, I got Larry Nozero's "Time" LP, which is absolutly fantastic, directly from him. I even charted it on CMJ.

Is that Maya LP all that it's hyped up to be?

You don't have any leads on Gemini II do you?

my local favorites won't be a surprise to anyone: Nathan Davis If and Suite for MLK; Frank Cunimondo Communication, Lynn Marino, Sagittarius, Plays George Benson.

i really think those are the best. But there are other ones I love too like Charles Bell, Bobby Fulton, James Johnson, etc. And the local college jazz programs have some heat.

I'm the Brand Manager now son!

Still need a Tribe Gemini II press. Holla.

I must say it's flattering that you keep 4 year old emails. A little suspect on many levels, but an honor all the same. But when you've got nothing else to do I guess it makes sense.

    Seattle:

Larry Conklin/Jochen Blum "Jackdaw" Raer loner folk duo lp, one of my favorite Seattle privates.

Milton Simons "Jasis:Spontaneous Improvisation" Deep spiritual jazz vibes, favorite Seattle jazz hands down.

Fred Taylor "Court of Circe" decent jazz shredder with the dopest cover ever

The Guild "Musik" soft rock xian femme boner, acid archives blah blah

Bob Rice "Cecrops Cluster" private funky jazz with the ill wah wah, fender rhodes and snapping drums. nicest customer at my shoppe, I have a handful of copies left.

    Papaya - ehhh next

Johnny Lewis Quartet- "shuckin n jivin" okay funky jazz, lil too smoov for me (beware of his other dookie ass lp "Feelings")

Gerry Olds Trio - "here goes" lo-fi trio jazz w/ weird electronics/tape loops

Overton Berry "Live at the Double Tree" mostly Beatles covers but still a pretty cool lil funky record, much better than TOBE imo

Life In General ep - generic sleeve, sounds like Gang of Four yes please. somebody snag the cheap b-i-n copy on ebay right now

not to mention The Sonics, The Wailers etc etc

"this place aint' what it used to be."

Funny that it starts off with these words, cause this is one of the more used-to-be-like threads in recent memory.
