    I got a King Curtis 45 from the early 60's on Enjoy that has a gold label.

    Haven't yet heard an Enjoy 45 that I could get with, but they may be out there...

    weren't the Grandmaster Flash ones early on though? never seen those on grey...

    whereas Spoonie Gee who's probably a lil later I've only seen on grey

    The Enjoy label from the 60's that put out R&B & Soul is apparently the same label that put out the early hip-hop stuff. Run by one Bobby Robinson.

    First issues were red until ca. late 1981, after which the changed to grey/silver label and reissued earlier releases with grey/silver labels. Later 1980's reissues were red again, but of a slightly different tone. Also the Enjoy logo font was slightly altered.

    Some later releases like Spoonie Gee's New Love Rap had white labels...

    I think Treacherous Three's "Feel The Heartbeat" was the first grey label. could be wrong though.

    Not sure about the white labels, but I think the earliest I have is that Doug E. Fresh joint.

    nah "theme" is just a fancy way of saying "instrumental", it's the b-side to the original superrappin'

    that's right o-dub..."theme" is a shorter version of superrappin..I guess they felt a
    need to re-issue it and try to blow it up. which never happend....

    How long did that come out after "We Rap More Mellow"? I know they had to have more routines than the one they busted on both of those records.

    you sure about that? my presumably og 12" has the 12 minute version of "superrappin'" on the a side and "superrappin' theme", which is just the instrumental, on the flip.

    Yes, but it was on Sound of New York, not Enjoy.



    I've actually seen it with silver, orange and yellow labels, and, according to Freddy Fresh, early pressings were on colored vinyl. Somebody plaese to sort that one out.



    If you're thinking of "Love Rap," which was on Enjoy, I believe that was on a red label, and "New Love Rap" was on a white label--will check when I get home.

    New Love Rap = white label (obviously recorded long before it was released ca. mid-80's)

    Superrappin' and Superrappin' N:o 2 have the same backing track, slightly different lyrics.

    my "spoonin rap" is on an orange label but not enjoy..."sound of ny".

    but yes i think red is earlier disco-rap era enjoy and grey is more masterdon era...well, it's all disco rap pretty much. but you know what i mean.

    my fave is "love rap". red label.

    Yes, I concur, "Love Rap/New Rap Language" red label w/different font = earlier from the silver "Supper Rappin'" era.
