  • Japan and France might be true but did you forget about Italy?

    Ok not super soulful but:

    Ago "for you" (Fulltime)
    Nexus "stand up" (Mr disc)
    Pat & Pats "tobago" (Pineapple)
    Pineapples "come on closer" (Danse)
Laura Bagnerise "special thing" (Hip, jamaican..)
Shine, this Lp is from Sweden (but with muscicians from all over the world) and has some good steppers and boogie tracks.. recorded in the same studio as ABBA

And Galaxxy (with Phil Fearon) and Rah band from the UK is superduper..

    /L

I picked up an interesting s/t Nigerian LP by a guy called Charming Charlie who I can't find anything about. It is vaguely afro-beat/highlife, but with unmistakeably modern soul/boogie arrangements. The cheezed-out synth and drum machine use is off the hook.

Interesting, could you post an mp3 example?

    that is too-o funny...
    but it's kind of true.

i listen to what i guess is called non-us synthi-modern soul/boogie/80s funk pretty much all the time (i never knew it was called that!). that 'label' is all over the place anyway

i guess one thing to keep in mind is that the us-stuff is good too...
    but here's some other suggestions

THOSE THAT START WITH K AND END WITH O
    kasso- key west, walkman#
    klein & mbo
    kano (duh)

    OTHER STUFF
prince charles & the city beat band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- tight jeans
stuff on fuzz dance (mya and the mirror, naif orchestra, etc)
    capricorn- capricorn
    dharma- plastic dolls

wait...am i getting too italo on you? if so i'll stopp

freeeze as mentioned earlier but other john rocca stuff too
    heaven 17/bef stuff
    the raincoats-animal rhapsody
magazine 60- don quichotte (us? non us? probably us)
