i won this record way back in the heatrock auction thinking that I had an og canadian press, but now looking at jinx's set sale and having him say that he's selling the 2nd press with green and blue labels which is the same color as my so called og canadian press, has me wondering if i got the 2nd press, or the described og canada press. any help would be nice, thanks

Any Canadian press is not going to be an OG since it was first released in the US. I have a Canadian pressing if anyone is interested...

first of all this record sucks - badly! second, the blue green press is the third press. Third, it sucks!!!

  • I know we can ban posters. Can we ban threads?

I honestly don't know for sure, but I always assumed this was a cheezy ez listening LP, that just happened to be a world-wide beloved sample?

Like, the Grail of pointless sample grabs, Bob James 2 the

Actually, fuck that. People hatt on those Bob James records, but "Nautilus" is hot shit, sample or no sample.

Tom Scott is perpetual doo doo

This record makes Nautilus sound like Curtis Mayfield.

    I like "Today."

It makes me feel happy inside, don't hate.

What the heck? I think "Today" is great. Sure it's probably because of reasons of context and familiarity having to do with the sample, but what the hell? Am I supposed to force myself to not enjoy listening to the song because of this? I'm not authentically enjoying it or something?

    Eff that.

i too, like "today". but i remember one time playing it while cleaning the house, and my girlfriend, in a very nonhomophobic way, said "this song is really gay."

i think it's an aquired taste. i don't understand how some of yall like that linda perhacs record, but dont feel "today"

For the record, I really like the Jefferson Airplane version, too, for reasons quite independent of the TROY sample.

I'll tell you whether your enjoyment is authentic or not. Thsi record is a terd.

  • I really like "today", also in my opinion "t.r.o.y." is the best rap tune ever made (ever since my bigger brother bought the cd in 91 or 92..), the Jefferson Airplane version is also good but not really the same thing..

My og copy of this was really cheap of the internet but also came with a funny story, with the lp i got hand written note from some woman named Gunilla who expalined how she lived in the US but used to live in Sweden and was happy to sell records to another swede.. small world..
